DSWD6 releases P1million-aid for Goring-affected families, continues in response operations

The DSWD Field Office VI has released a P1million-worth of food and non-food items to families affected by the Southwest Monsoon enhanced by Typhoon Goring.

The assistance was released to the Provinces of Antique, Iloilo and Negros Occidental.

“The DSWD Field Office VI continues in responding to the needs of the affected families. Prior this, we have already placed goods in strategic locations so that the goods can reach the people at the shortest time possible,” said Atty. Carmelo N. Nochete, Regional Director.

If broken down, the agency released P103,412 worth of goods for Valderrama, Antique; for Iloilo Province, P127,729 worth of goods for Guimbal; P253,470 worth of goods for Oton; P50,200 worth of goods for Pavia, Iloilo; and for Negros Occidental, P411,341 worth of goods for Bacolod City and P148,975 for Himamaylan City.

STOCKPILE

Director Nochete also assured that the agency has sufficient stockpile to respond to the localities.

There are 13,522 family food packs worth P6.9-million and P40.9-million worth of non-food items at the regional warehouses and strategic sites.

The agency also maintains a P5.9-million standby fund to respond to any eventuality.

RESPONSE OPERATIONS

Director Nochete also assures that the agency is collaborating with various LGUs to ensure that the affected families are provided with food and other appropriate intervention depending on their needs.

Disaster Response Management Division Chief Judith Tanate recently coordinated with the National Resource Operations Center (NROC) to ensure sufficient supply for Western Visayas. /dswd6
