Filipino performing artist and actor Jeremy Mayores is steadily carving out a name for himself on the international stage, taking the lead role in a short film produced in Taiwan.
Known for bringing raw emotional depth and a disciplined craft to film projects like Agapito (Arvin Belarmino and Kyla Romero), Ang Halikan sa Water Fountain (Clyde Gamale), Indigo (Ace Balbarez), Kung Ang Ulan (Macky Esquibel), Panulukan (Richard Legaspi) and Tara? Takbo! (Diana Galang), Mayores is now stepping into a pivotal cross-cultural spotlight.
Shooting in Taiwan, he serves as a proud representative of Southeast Asian artistry bridging the gap with international cinema.
The film is produced by Unseen Film Studios Taiwan and directed by Kaohsiung-based filmmaker Sun Chieh-Heng, celebrated for his contemplative storytelling and striking visual style.

Adapted from the internationally acclaimed Taiwanese novel The Man with the Compound Eyes, the short film centers on Atile’i, the novel’s iconic first central figure.
Mayores portrays the titular character, Atile’i, the novel’s “Second Son” and the chosen one of his people, bound by tradition to fulfill a sacred destiny. His inevitable journey toward the sea serves as a hauntingly beautiful meditation on fate, cultural memory, and survival.
Beyond the individual mythos, the film weaves a deeper, universal narrative that explores humanity’s fragile relationship with nature and the enduring strength of the human spirit.
This role marks a defining milestone for Mayores, highlighting the soaring global trajectory of Filipino talent. By anchoring an overseas production, his involvement does more than elevate his personal filmography. His participation paves the way for richer, more frequent creative exchanges within the Asian filmmaking community.
The Film Development Council of the Philippines also recently selected Mayores as one of the 20 finalists of The Masters Series: FDCP Acting Workshop for Filipino Talents to be led by acclaimed directors Jose Javier Reyes, Laurice Guillen, and Joel Lamangan.
