Kalibo VM to meet with DICT ‘to upgrade Internet Services

KALIBO, Aklan- Kalibo Vice Mayor Cynthia Dela Cruz said she is going to have a meeting with the officials of the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) next week in hope to discuss with them to upgrade internet services in this town.
The meeting develops after she recently passed a resolution asking the DICT to urge all internet service providers in Kalibo to a faster, consistent and more reliable internet connections.
The DICT is mandated to improve public access by establishing a free internet that can be accessed in government offices and public areas using the most cost-effective telecommunications technology, through partnership with private service providers as maybe necessary.
“It was noted that occasionally, if not most of the time, our internet speed is unreliable. This is a serious predicament for businesses, offices and educational institutions that rely mostly on the internet,” she said.
Most of the residents of Kalibo from home, education and business now relies on internet connectivity especially with the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, thus underscoring the need for a reliable internet connections in this capital town.
