Kalibonhon candidate in Mrs Tourism in the US bats for increasing women in tech

KALIBO, Aklan- A 55 years old Kalibonhon finalist in the 6th Mrs Tourism Beauty Pageant is advocating more Women in Technology (WIT). This especially in the Asia Pacific Region.

In an interview, Evelyn Talatala Clough, said she joined the said prestigious competition at the prodding of her aunt. Clough was among the 20 finalists, many of whom were Filipinas.

Clough said she has relatives in Kalibo and a frequent visitor to the annual Kalibo Sto. Nino Ati-atihan Festival.

The grand coronation night is scheduled on October 2, 2023 at the Music Museum in Greenhills. The organizer of the event considered it as an international pageant having finalists from Chile and Colombia.

Its tagline was ‘A Mother Who Cares for the World!’

Clough although a Filipina was representing the United States of America in the said pageant.

” I will continue with my advocacy which is increasing the number of women in technology (WIT) and in Executive Leadership. We need more women and girls in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math. There is only 27 percent of women in technology all over the world. Only seven percent of them are either Asian or Pacific islander,” Clough told the BINN.

” Janet Hixson is the director of Mrs Tourism USA,” she added.

Clough graduated as a Bachelor’s Degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering in the University of the East in Manila.
