MOU for regional institutionalization of agricuture and fisheries resources signed

Roxas City- The Memorandum of Understanding for Regional institutionalization of Agriculture and Fisheries Resources, was officially signed today, April 7, 2025 at the office of the Governor. This is in relation to the aim of The Department of Agriculture (DA) in the Philippines as they actively work on institutionalizing agriculture and fisheries resources to boost the sector’s development and modernization.
This Memorandum of Understanding was established through the efforts of the Department of Agriculture – Western Visayas (DA-WV), the Bureau of Agricultural Research (DA-BAR), and the Agricultural Training Institute (DA-ATI), who worked together to enhance and institutionalize the Agriculture and Fisheries Resources Research and Extension for Development Network (ARREDN).
This initiative aims to strengthen the capacities of regional institutions/partners involved in Agriculture, Aquatic, and Natural Resources (AANR) and their respective R4DE (Research for Development and Extension) activities wherein the Province of Capiz is one of the members of the said Network.
Further, These undertaking, aims to transform the agriculture and fisheries sector into a globally competitive and sustainable industry, ensuring food security and improving the livelihoods of farmers and fisherfolk. In order to strengthen partnerships and collaborations, harmonize R4DE programs and services, and efficiently manage and coordinate the project activities in the attainment of its expected outputs, it is necessary to obtain full support and commitment from the Network’s R4DE partner institutions.
The signing of this Memorandum of Understanding was attended by MR. John Amorsolo, Senior Science, Research Specialist and Focal Person of AFRREDEN, representing MR. Dennis R. Arpia, Regional Executive Director, DA-RFO 6, 𝗚𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗼𝗿 𝗙𝗿𝗲𝗱𝗲𝗻𝗶𝗹 𝗛. 𝗖𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗼 and MR. Raoul Perez, Acting Provincial Agriculturist.
