SPAB Induction of Officers and Oath-taking of Members Culminated

Boracay Island- Local Government of Malay through Mayor Frolibar S. Bautista, SPAB’s Inducting Officer publicly announced their commitment to bring benefits for the members of Small Players Association of Boracay through inclusive local economy and local trade policies.
“The local government of Malay is very proud and recommends this kind of activities to encourage the MSME (Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises) sector to be a law abiding citizen of Boracay Island through granting business permits to MSME sector following proper policies and regulation of the local government as per audit from Department of Interior and Local Government,” said by the Mayor. He elaborately explained that MSMEs play a big role in the economy of Boracay, and said that 67% (sixty seven percent) of jobs created in the island comes from the MSME sector.
The Founder and Board of Trustee, Mr. Gil Delos Santos, also committee chair for Public Relations set the stage for the SPAB’s induction of officers and members on Friday, February 23, 2024 at TIB Paluto, Tulubhan, Brgy. Manocmanoc, Boracay Island, Malay, Aklan. In his welcome remarks, he recalled the purpose of the organization, its mission and the benefits of becoming a member. He reiterated the voice of each member in the MSME sector through SPAB, the business opportunities of IPP (Internal Patronization Program) within the organization and the Expanded Common Share Benefit Program of SPAB.
“We are Filipinos, we should be loyal to our country, we should think as Filipino, we should create and promote local Filipino products, and provide Filipino brand of services. Once we have established our cultural identity, we will impact globally, we will be known of our Filipino brand,” delos Santos reiterated.
SPAB is leading the forum works of its overarching motto: “Think local, impact global”. It’s the campaign for the #SupportLocal movement nationwide. It was born out of intensive consultation with over 100 stakeholders including business associations, non-governmental organizations, Indigenous communities and women associations. The same forum with proper quorom pledge and took oath of membership during the event.
Only when we enable and include more people to participate in an interconnected Boracay Island’s local economy and local value chains, we can achieve quality growth that is inclusive, sustainable, just and equitable.
The event was attended by our Vice Mayor Niño Cawaling, Brgy. Councilor Cristian Gelito in behalf of Punong Brgy. Danilo Delos Santos of Brgy. Manocmanoc, Brgy. Councilor, Liby Bendolo, in behalf of Punong Brgy. Jason Talapian of Brgy. Balabag, Sangguniang Bayan Member  Alan Palma Sr. who is also the Public Information Officer of SPAB, and the Chief Tourism Operations Officer of Malay MTO Mr. Felix G. Delos Santos were among the Keynote speakers from the Local Government Unit. Ms. Astrophel Tabanera of PCTV also graced the event as official media partner of SPAB, together with Mr. Eugene Flores who gracefully hosted the event and Mr. Jack Jarilla as the official photographer of the said event.
Ms. Emelita Arines, Board of Trustee and Committee head for Election gave the closing remark to end the program of the Induction of Officers and Members event.
