NABAS, Aklan-Sana All!

The municipality of Nabas, Aklan, in the Western District is eyeing a jump into a second-class town because of the pouring of investments in their town.

Nabas Mayor Maria Fe Lasaleta told the media that among those investors who made huge economic contributions to their town were the Godofredo P. Ramos Airport of the San Miguel Corporation and Petrowind Energy Inc. (PWEI).

The Marriott Hotel is also under construction. Currently, the town of Nabas is a fourth class municipality.

“The Sangguniang Bayan of Nabas has already filed a resolution. We are confident that we are already qualified,” she said.

A report said a town to be declared a second class should earn an average annual income of P160,000,000 or more, but less than P200 million.

To boost its bid to become a second-class municipality, the town of Nabas is currently constructing a modern tourist center facility worth P7.5 million.

The lot was donated by the PWEI, but the local government shoulders the  construction costs.

Aside from this, the Nabas LGU is also awaiting the groundbreaking of a P10 million super clinic. Also constructing a solar facility to serve the needs of the local government.

The LGU solar facility is considered a first in Aklan.
