
Ilolo City- The regionโs most promising young skilled professionals were recognized during the awarding ceremony of the WorldSkills Philippines Western Visayas Regional Skills Competition held on June 18, 2026, at Leon Ganzon Polytechnic College, where outstanding performers across 14 skills areas were honored for their excellence and dedication.
The ceremony was graced by Deputy Director General for Finance and Legal Affairs Atty. Allan Chester B. Nadate, who congratulated the winners and underscored the vital role of skills development and excellence in advancing national growth and competitiveness.
The competition showcased the talents of participants from various technical-vocational institutions across Western Visayas. After rigorous assessments, the following competitors emerged as medalists in their respective categories:
In Bakery, Cinjie A. Bejeco of Leon Ganzon Polytechnic College secured the gold medal, while Rastella Mae A. Hallarda of Dumalag Vocational Technical School earned silver.
For Carpentry, Erwin B. Gregorio of APEX Skills Development Institute, Inc. captured the gold medal, with John Rey L. Mondia of Passi Trade School taking silver.
In the Cooking category, Yuri Adrian M. Faenag of Dumalag Vocational Technical School won gold, followed by Arjay J. Salaver of Leon Ganzon Polytechnic College with silver and Rey Brian A. Castaรฑeda of Aklan Catholic College Inc. with bronze.
The Electrical Installation competition saw Levy Jay D. Gagante of Agsanayan National High School claim gold. June D. Duga of Leon Ganzon Polytechnic College received silver, while Roderick D. Naral of Provincial Training CenterโAklan earned bronze.
Jerime B. Mahinay of Dumalag Vocational Technical School topped the Fashion Technology category with a gold medal. Aljay C. Zaldivar of Monfort Technical Institute, Inc. won silver, and Gracel Dawn C. Punsalan of Leon Ganzon Polytechnic College secured bronze.
In Graphic Design Technology, Jhun Art A. Escaner of Leon Ganzon Polytechnic College emerged as gold medalist, while Christine V. Colada of Monfort Technical Institute, Inc. received silver.
The IT Network Systems Administration competition was led by Prince Daren E. Maquez of New Gen Training and Assessment Center Inc., who won gold. Princess Leanne S. Ysug of Northern Antique Vocational School earned silver.
For Mechanical Engineering CAD, Vhynie R. Virgo of Leon Ganzon Polytechnic College captured the gold medal, while fellow student John Rey T. Labamora received silver.
In Restaurant Service, Jesel D. Melendrez of Leon Ganzon Polytechnic College claimed gold. Francis Dion F. Funtemayor of Dumalag Vocational Technical School won silver, and Lyra D. Protacio of Guimaras Skills Academy Corp. earned bronze.
Meanwhile, the Welding category was topped by Leo G. Capurcos of Ennio Training Institute and Assessment Center Inc. Victor A. Berog of Regional Training Center-Iloilo secured silver. At the same time, Edrian G. Gedalanga of the Provincial Training and Enterprise Development Center received a bronze.
Also, among the winners were Ryan Ken A. Alavaren in Wall and Floor Tiling, Precious A. Flores in Hotel Reception, Marion D. Guillen in ICT Network Infrastructure, and Jaypee P. Yase in Refrigeration and Air Conditioning, all representing Leon Ganzon Polytechnic College.
The medalists will form the pool of regional champions who may advance to the WorldSkills Philippines National Competition. As representatives of Western Visayas, the gold winners will compete for a chance to participate in National WorldSkills events, showcasing the regionโs technical excellence on the national, eventually on the global stage.
