
Calinog, Iloilo โ In the spirit of Christmas, the CAA Patrol Bases of the Army’s 12th Infantry Battalion conducted a meaningful gift-giving activity in Panay Island on December 25, 2024.
The activity aims to reach out to the poorest of the poor, persons with disabilities (PWDs), and senior citizens, including those in conflict-vulnerable areas.
It was was conducted across various barangays in Capiz, Aklan, and Iloilo under the Battalion’s area of responsibility, including communities historically affected by insurgency.
Essential items such as food packs, and other necessities were distributed, providing not only material support but also a message of peace and solidarity.
The leadership of the 12IB emphasized the significance of the initiative, especially in conflict-vulnerable areas, as part of the unit’s commitment to protect and uplift communities through simple acts of kindness.
Beneficiaries expressed their heartfelt gratitude for the effort, with many describing the activity as a gesture of hope. A senior citizen from one of the conflict-vulnerable areas said, โThis is a Christmas we will always remember. The presence of our soldiers brings us security and joy.โ
The activity also forms part of 12IB broader community engagement initiatives under the Peace, Law Enforcement, and Development Support (PLEDS) Cluster, aligned with the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-ELCAC) objectives. By extending assistance to conflict-vulnerable communities, 12IB continues to build trust and strengthen the bond between the military and the people.
Moreover, the 12IB remain steadfast in its mission to serve and secure the people and the whole Panay Island, ensuring that every Panaynon, especially those in vulnerable areas, can celebrate the holidays with hope and dignity.
