19 Former Anti- Peace Agents are Now Agents of Peace

BANGA, Aklan – Nineteen former anti-peace agents formally withdrew their support from groups inducing terrorism during the conduct of the Local Peace Engagement Initiative (Withdrawal of Support) held at the Aklan Police Provincial Office in Kalibo, Aklan.

The activity was spearheaded by Atty. Flosemer Gonzales, Legal Cooperation Cluster/JFLAT RTF-ELCAC 6 Administering Officer, as part of the government’s intensified campaign to address activities inducing terrorism through peaceful and lawful means. The former members, previously affiliated with sectoral front organizations involved in activities inducing terrorism, voluntarily executed affidavits withdrawing their support and pledging to stand with the government in promoting peace and development in the province.

Messages of support were delivered by various government agencies and stakeholders who reaffirmed their commitment to assist those who choose the path of peace. Among those present were the Aklan Police Provincial Office, headed by PCOL Arnel Ramos; the 82nd Infantry (Bantay Laya) Battalion under the leadership of LTC ELMAR L SALVADOR INF (GSC) PA; LTC JOSELITO S DALIDA GSC (INF) PA, the 301st Infantry Brigade Executive Officer; DTI Aklan; BFAR PFO-Aklan; DOLE Aklan Field Office; TESDA Aklan; DSWD FO6; PTF-ELCAC Aklan; and PSWDO Aklan. Barangay officials also attended the activity and served as witnesses to the signing of affidavits.

As part of the government’s reintegration support, each beneficiary received food assistance worth 10,000 from SWAD–DSWD Aklan and food packs from PSWDO Aklan. The assistance aims to help them transition back to productive and peaceful community life.

The former anti-peace agents expressed their gratitude to the government for the support extended to them and acknowledged the importance of unity under the Whole-of-Government Approach. They also conveyed hope that their decision would inspire remaining members of the group to abandon activities inducing terrorism and choose the path of peace.

The Provincial Government of Aklan and partner agencies reaffirm that the door remains open for those who wish to return to the folds of the law. Through sustained collaboration and community support, Aklan continues to strengthen its gains toward lasting peace and inclusive development.
