Aklan Vice Guv Re-Elected as LGVP National Chair

Aklan Vice Governor Atty. Reynaldo M. Quimpo was re-elected unopposed as the National Chairman of the League of Vice Governors of the Philippines (LVGP) during its 88th National Assembly and Election of National Officers and Regional Directors on July 13-15, 2022 at Sofitel Philippine Plaza Manila, CCP Complex.
The League of Vice Governors of the Philippines is a strong, dynamic and cohesive national organization of highly motivated Vice Governors whose opinions are well respected and considered in bringing about reforms in government and whose leadership are responsive in effecting changes for local and national development.
The LVGP aims “to continuously build a strong advocacy group, to be “one voice” in policy and legislative reforms through unity, enhanced capabilities and established national and international linkages,” specifically to: 1. To enhance the skills of the Vice Governors as well as build capabilities of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan; 2. To promote fraternal support for greater unity and cooperation; 3.To maintain harmonious relationships between executive and legislative branches of government; 4. To establish strong linkages and networks with national and international institutions; and 5. To institutionalize a strong advocacy voice in policy and legislative reforms.
Quimpo served as Chairman of the Board of the LVGP for the 2019-2022 term before he was given a renewed and fresh mandate to once again serve the LVGP in the same position.
Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Benjamin “Benhur” Abalos, Jr. also graced the occasion as the Guest of Honor where he expressed the support of the national government to the newly-elected vice governors of the country in crafting legislative measures for the benefit of their constituents.
“Vice governors are in a unique position to bring about positive change as presiding officers of their respective Sangguniang Panlalawigan. I strongly support you [Vice Governors] to craft relevant ordinances for the benefit of the people,” Abalos said.
Among the elected and re-elected National Officers of the LVGP for the term 2022-2025 are: Laguna Vice Governor Atty. Katherine Apagay as President, Ilocos Norte Vice Governor Cecilia Araneta-Marcos as Executive Vice President, Pangasinan Vice Governor Mark Ronald Lambino as Vice President for Luzon, Iloilo Vice Governor Christine Garin as Vice President for Visayas, Sarangani Vice Governor Elmer De Peralta as Vice President for Mindanao, Siquijor Vice Governor Mei Ling Quezon as Secretary General, Bataan Vice Governor Cristina Garcia as Treasurer, Basilan Vice Governor Yusop Alano as Auditor and Dinagat Islands Vice Governor Benglen Ecleo as PRO.
