NEW WASHINGTON, Aklan- A municipal map outlining proposed priority interventions to address community needs has been created by Barangay Kagawads and Barangay Development Council -Technical Working Group (BDC-TWG) chairpersons during the Participatory Situational Analysis (PSA) Municipal Consolidation activity of the Kapit-Bisig Laban sa Kahirapan Comprehensive and Integrated Delivery of Social Services (KALAHI-CIDSS) Program of the Department of Social Welfare and Development.
The municipal map is an output of the workshop, during which participants from 16 barangays were asked to check the proposed intervention’s eligibility for possible KALAHI-CIDSS funding, estimate the total project cost, and locate the exact location of the sub-project in the barangay map.
The participants from each barangay were guided by the barangay map they had created before visualizing the municipal map.
KALAHI-CIDSS Area Coordinator Marlou Salido said the municipal map gives the Municipal Local Government Unit (MLGU) a clearer understanding of the proposed projects from the communities in New Washington.
The conduct of MPSA is part of the social preparation stage of the KALAHI-CIDSS process. By making a map of the PSA results, it became clear where problems affect more than one barangay, where proposed solutions overlap or are duplicates, and where solutions and project needs can work together.
Salido said that the MPSA is the final activity in the Social Preparation Stage. Following this, the Sub-Project Development Stage will commence.
In the Sub-Project Development Stage, the communities must develop proposals for their identified top-priority projects.
Salido said the Program will capacitate the communities by providing them with training on preparing project proposals.
Meanwhile, Mayor Jessica Regenio-Panambo encouraged the barangay representatives to identify their projects based on their needs. Panambo said she wanted the 16 barangays to avail of the government project.
However, the chunking of the grant will depend on the proposed grant intended for the recipient municipality and the type of projects to be funded. The mayor is grateful that New Washington was chosen as one of two municipalities in the province of Aklan to utilize this present modality./dswd6/mmc
