San Remigio, Antique- This year, the Province of Antique will host the Philippine National Trail Running Championships (PNTRC)—the country’s premier trail running competition where the nation’s top athletes will vie for national rankings, championship titles, and selection pathways for international representation.
Sanctioned by the Philippine Trail Running Association (PhilTRA), the PNTRC will take place on March 27–29, 2026 in San Remigio, Antique.
The inaugural edition is hosted and organized by Antique Road Trail Running, led by Race Director Mannie Magbanua, Jr., in collaboration with the Department of Tourism Region VI, the Office of Senator Loren Legarda, the Office of Cong. AA Legarda, the Province of Antique, and the Local Government Units of San Remigio and Sibalom. The event is further supported by trail running organizations and partners, including PhilTRA, the World Mountain Running Association, the Southeast Asia Trail Running Confederation (SEATRC), and the International Trail Running Association (iTRA).
A coordination meeting with partner stakeholders was held on February 4, 2026 at the Antique Provincial Capitol, led by Governor Hon. Paolo Javier. The meeting presented key event details, underscored its significance in boosting Antique’s sports tourism and destination appeal, and secured support and commitments from participating agencies and stakeholders. This coordination marks a critical step in ensuring a safe, well-organized, and successful championship through strong inter-agency and multi-sector collaboration.
As Antique hosts its first national trail running championship, the event offers a timely platform to showcase the province’s rugged terrains and breathtaking highlands on both national and international stages. Notably, Antique has also produced trail running athletes who have competed—and continue to excel—at national and international levels.
