Boracay- In a united commitment to safeguard one of the countryโs most treasured destinations, tourism stakeholders from across Boracay Island gathered on May 15โ16, 2026 for the Carrying Capacity Seminar, conducted by the Department of Tourism Region VI under the Tourism Industry Skills Program.
The seminar served as a powerful platform for collaboration, learning, and reflection โ reinforcing the urgent call to harmonize tourism growth with environmental sustainability, responsible destination management, and long-term ecological preservation. As Boracay continues to welcome the world, so too grows the shared responsibility to protect its beauty, resources, and future for generations to come.
Participants were further empowered through insightful discussions and expert guidance from resource speakers Mr. Carlos Libosado Jr. and Ms. Joannette Opeda of DENR CENRO Boracay, who emphasized the crucial role of environmental stewardship, discipline, and collective accountability in sustaining Boracay Island as a globally admired tourism destination.
More than a learning engagement, this initiative stands as a strong reminder that sustainability is not merely a vision โ it is a shared duty, carried by every individual, community, and sector that benefits from Boracay’s success.
