
KALIBO, Aklan- The Provincial Land Use Committee (PLUC) of Aklan convened on July 8, 2026 to discuss Sangguniang Bayan Resolution No. 145, Series of 2026, of the Municipality of Malay, concerning the proposed exclusion of the Boracay–Mainland Bridge Project from the draft Comprehensive Land Use Plan (CLUP) and Zoning Ordinance (ZO) 2023–2032.
The meeting was conducted through a hybrid arrangement, with members participating both in person and virtually. It was attended by a majority of the members of the Provincial Land Use Committee (PLUC), composed of representatives from the Provincial Planning and Development Office; Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development; Department of the Interior and Local Government; Department of Agriculture Regional Field Office VI; Department of Tourism Region VI – Boracay Sub-Office; Department of Agrarian Reform-Aklan; Department of Public Works and Highways; Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office–Aklan; Department of Trade and Industry–Aklan; Office of the Provincial Agriculturist; Aklan Provincial Tourism Office; Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office; and the Provincial Agricultural and Fisheries Council, representing the civil society sector.
Representatives from the Municipal Planning and Development Office of the Municipality of Malay likewise attended the meeting.
During the meeting, the Committee reviewed the status of the draft CLUP and Zoning Ordinance 2023–2032 of the Municipality of Malay, which remain under revision and subject to the completion of the required compliance documents by the LGU.
The PLUC also discussed the appropriate process for referring the matters raised in the Sangguniang Bayan Resolution to the Municipality of Malay and its concerned local planning bodies for consideration and appropriate action within the ongoing CLUP revision process.
