PAFC-Aklan and MAFC-Kalibo Hailed As Regional Gawad Saka Awardees

ILOILO CITY- October 5, 2026- The Regional Agricultural and Fishery Council (RAFC) VI joins PAFC Aklan and MAFC Kalibo in celebrating their prestigious achievement as Gawad Saka Awardees under the Provincial/Highly Urbanized City/Independent Component City Agricultural and Fishery Council and Municipal/City Agricultural and Fishery Council Category, recognizing their outstanding contributions to agricultural and fishery development in Western Visayas.

The award highlights PAFC Aklan and MAFC Kaliboโ€™s exemplary performance in policy advocacy, stakeholder engagement, and program implementation that strengthened farmer and fisherfolk participation in governance. Through their proactive initiatives, the councils have consistently championed sustainable practices, supported local programs, and advanced participatory mechanisms not only in the province of Aklan but also across Western Visayas as a whole.

In his message of commitment, Mr. Arnulfo Magcope, PAFC Aklan Chairperson, underscored the vital role of AFCs in policymaking through resolutions, emphasizing the need to enhance the consultation process and strengthen responsiveness to the voices of farmers and fisherfolk.

RAFC VI Chairperson Engr. Buen S. Mondejar lauded PAFC Aklan and MAFC Kalibo for setting a benchmark in participatory governance, stressing that the recognition affirms the councilโ€™s crucial role in bridging government programs with grassroots communities.

This prestigious award serves as both an honor and a challenge for PAFC Aklan and MAFC Kalibo to sustain their momentum in fostering participatory governance and volunteerism in shaping the agri-fishery sector.
