
KALIBO, Aklan- A Filipino American (FIL-AM) advocate an Akeanon, pushes for Fil-Am artists to take center stage on Netflix and YouTube to include Broadway shows and film festivals in the United States of America, hopefully in the year 2024.
Tommie Mopia, from the advocacy group FILAM Creatives, based in Los Angeles, California, told this writer in an interview.
“For Netflix shows, weโre already writing scripts and documentaries that will be out soon. Our main goal is to have our Filipino-American films part of prestigious festivals around the world para po maging entry to compete for screenings and awards,” he said.
On October 5, 2023, FILAM Creative, together with Star Cinema-ABS CBN and Tremendous, organized an educational panel for creatives. Among the historymakers are Dolly De Leon, the first Filipino Golden Globe nominee; Kathryn Bernardo, a top-grossing Filipino star; and ABS-CBN executives. Mopia was one of the managing heads for the event, representing FILAM Creatives.

In August 2023, Mopia was featured by Forbes Philippines as a Filipino Trailblazer, Bridging Health Culture and Service.
He is 33 years old, born in Iloilo City (family came from Gumbal, Iloilo), but later transferred to Makato, Aklan.
His dad was the late Nemuel Mopia, retired master teacher of Calimbajan Tina Elementary School, and his mom is currently in the Vallejo school district as an elementary school teacher in Vallejo, California.
He has two siblings, Gay Rose Mopia , a registered speech-language pathologist, and Restee Mopia, a doctor of pharmacy. He finishes his elementary education at the top of the class at Makato Integrated School and finishes his secondary education at Numancia Integrated School,Numancia , Aklan.
He then went to the Adventist University of the Philippines, Silang, Cavite, for a nursing degree.
They had migrated to Los Angeles, California, by 2008. He then took some business credit at Harvard University School of Continuing Education in Boston, Massachusetts, and is currently enrolled at Northeastern University in Boston, Massachusetts, for healthcare research education.
He is currently the CEO and owner of TGM Group of Companies Incorporated, based in Los Angeles, California, which manages hospice services, home health care services, and US healthcare consulting firm offices employing over 100 medical professionals:doctors, nurses, physical therapists, and all healthcare workers.
He is also in the entertainment industry in Hollywood as one of the managing directors for Fil Am Creatives, which does Netflix shows, YouTube short videos, commercials, and social media channels all over the world.
Tommie is also active with the Philippine entertainment as he produces concerts and shows for Filipino singers and artists from the Philippines that works with ABS CBN, GMA, TV5 and most of the music and recording companies.
His accomplishments and contributions in entertainment industry have earned him recognition as the โEmerging Young Entrepreneur of 2022โ by non other CNN Philippines and interviewed live by Rico Hizon on the show โFinal Wordโ .
He was featured in Forbes Magazine , New York weekly, US times and many US and Philippine news publications and articles.
With his accomplishments and philanthropy he will be awarded and recognized on Oct 27, 2023 at Zipper Hall in Los Angeles CA by the prestigious โThe Outstanding Filipino Awardsโ ( TOFA) on which he will be honored and presented by the non other than the office of the President of the United States of America, President Joe Biden, on which he spearheaded the โ2023 Bulig Medical and Evangelical Missionโ in Makato, Aklan last June 26-July 1, 2023.
He brought 216 medical and non medical volunteers around the world to help his fellow Makaton on. In this event they extended healthcare services to nearly 4,000 patients.
From dental procedures to crucial surgeries like cyst removal and the range of serviceโs offered was comprehensive.
The events magnitude was such that if the beneficiaries had to pay for all the services, it would have amounted only to a staggering 15 million pesos. With all of these accomplishments and contributions he is named as one of the โ 75th Most influential Filipino- American of 2022โ
