Akeanon behind success of the Sansinirangan in Tacloban

KALIBO, Aklan- An Akeanon researcher is behind the success of the multipurpose Sansinirangan Weather and Metro Station which is now operational in Tacloban City.

Raymond Sucgang of Batan, Aklan, and currently the head of the Nuclear Analytical Techniques Application Section head of the Department of Science and Technology-Philippine Nuclear Research Institute (DOST-PNRI).

Sucgang said the weather station is worth P2 million and was acquired through his IAEA TC Project: PHI 5034. Sucgang thanked the West Point Engineering Supplies Incorporated.

Mr. Dennis T. Ziganay is the CEO of West Point.

Sugcang also thanked PNRI director Carlo Arcilla, the Philippine Science High School Eastern Visayas and the Development Academy Batch 14 for the support of the project.

The Sansinirangan is the first of its kind in the country where not only it serves as a rain isotope collector but also measures rain amount, wind speed/pressure, wind direction, global radiation, etc., and a CCTV camera (that allows the whole world to see Tacloban’s PAG-ASA area anytime).

The Sansinirangan also sends real time data info to people’s cellphones via cloud.
