
NEW WASHINGTON, Aklan- An Akeanon Massage Therapy trainer here has been shining in the Kingdom of Bahrain, giving livelihood skills to various Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) there.
Melie Rosales Juanico, owner of the Alima Massage and Spa here said she has been coordinating with the Philippine Embassy and the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) in Bahrain. Previously, while in Aklan.
Juanico was accredited with the Technical Education Skills Development Authority (TESDA) as a specialized trainer on massage therapy.
“I first started training three students in Bahrain several years ago. Right now, my training has been expanded to four branches of massage therapy with around 50 employees,” she said in an interview with the Boracay Island News Network.
Because of Juanico’s specialized training, she was introduced to Addulrahman Fakro, the company and helped more people abroad.
“The company succeeded in opening 10 or more companies of its own after only starting a business in Thai massage. I am incharge since then, hiring staff from Thailand, Philippines, India, Tunisia, Morocco, Nepal, etc., among others. Until now, I would like to help the company reach the top and pioneer massage therapy. It was nice to be back again on the island 6yrs ago,” she said.

Among the businesses are Fakro Opticals, Business Plus, Crystal Arch, and Massage.
“A lot of new opportunities await our kababayans, especially massage therapy, which is actually booming here in the Middle East. For those interested, we are now hiring massage therapists for men and women. We do a virtual interview. please Make sure to have your DOH and TESDA NC2 certificates; it’s a must,” she added.
