KALIBO, Aklan- Aklan Governor Jose Enrique Miraflores has renewed his commitment to the farmers and fishermen in the province.
Miraflores met with the officers and members of the Provincial Agriculture and Fisheries Council (PAFC) last July 19 at the Aklan Provincial Capitol during the latter’s quarterly executive meeting, Among those who attended were PAFC officers and MAFC’s coming from different municipalities of the province.
Aside from the PAFC members, government organizations such as the National Irrigation Administration, the Philippine Coconut Authority, and the and the Provincial Agriculture Office also came up in the said meeting to express their respective support for the council.
Vicmae Macavinta, the PAFC coordinator, said that the support of Miraflores and other government agencies is crucial for both the farmers and the fishermen to boost their morale in ensuring food security in the province.
For his part, Engr. Alexys Apolonioo, head of the OPA said that the province will soon distribute the P10,000 cash assistance to some 5,000 farmers in the province affected by the El Nino phenomenon.
“We are thankful to President Bongbong Marcos for the cash assistance. Priorities will be given to those farmers who came from those towns who declared a state of calamity and reported their damages on time,” he added.
