Aklan’s widest inland resort opens

New Washington, Aklan—The MM Convention and Resort, which considers itself the widest inland resort, is now open to the public after its soft opening on May 23.

The MM was formerly named Maria Mercedes Resort at Sitio Malogo, Poblacion New Washington Aklan.

Academic Doctor Ruffy Yu, 68, said they are preparing for a full-swing operation by February 2024. They are currently developing their 4.4-hectare property and are still halfway there.

“I already spent some P11.2 million developing the property. I am not sure what will happen next. But I hope this will work,” he said.

He said he decided to put up a resort to help his fellow ‘kasimanwas’ by providing them with economic opportunities.

“When I was in elementary and high school, I was a poor boy walking to school for 30 minutes each time. Those were the times when I decided that I needed to do something in my life and to be able to help others. One of the employees has narrated that he has already bought a pair of shoes just for working with the said resort. I am happy,” he added.

Hernan Rapiz, the operations manager of the resort, said that the resort offers bed and breakfast accommodations, swimming, a videoker bar, and a themed park.

“We will also open soon for fishing activities, zumba, entertainment, parties, and more,” Rapiz said.”

The said resort is now open for hosting parties, weddings, and debuts, among others. The entrance fee is P60 for adults and P40 for kids.

They also provide discounts to senior citizens and persons with disabilities.
