On his birthday, we celebrate not only the life of a priest, educator, and formator, but also the remarkable journey of Rev. Fr. Jayvee U. Delos Santosโ€”a man who has shown that faith and science need not stand on opposite sides of the human experience. Through his work, Fr. Jayvee has demonstrated that a priest can be a researcher, an environmental advocate, a chemistry enthusiast, an educator, a cultural worker, and a mentor to young people–all while remaining deeply rooted in his vocation of service.

Fr. Jayvee’s academic and scientific accomplishments are particularly remarkable. He has become an active contributor to research that explores the intersection of faith, scientific inquiry, environmental stewardship, and education. His published works include Conduct and Validation of an Educational Lecture Series on the Integration of Faith and Scientific Research Methodology, published in the International Journal of Research and Scientific Innovation in 2024. The study examined how faith-based values could be integrated with scientific methodologies through educational activities in Nabaoy and Boracay.

He subsequently became a co-author of The Implementation of Laudato Si in Aklan: A Strategic Framework for Sustainable Development, published in the International Journal of Research and Innovation in Social Science in 2025. The work documented efforts to translate the principles of Laudato Si’ into concrete environmental initiatives, including the Nabaoy Lecture Series, participation in the BIOME 8 National Conference on Biodiversity, and community-based environmental activities.

Another significant publication, Nuancing the Implementation of Laudato Si Activities in Aklan, documented environmental awareness, ecological restoration, and tree-planting activities undertaken through collaboration among the Diocese of Kalibo, academic institutions, environmental scientists, and communities.

His research involvement continued into 2026 through Integrating Electron Beam Technology Awareness and Community-Based Environmental Action: A Case Study in Aklan, published in the International Journal of Research and Scientific Innovation. The study examined an electron-beam technology awareness seminar and community environmental action involving teachers, students, government officials, clergy, scientists, and community members.

He also co-authored Integrating Faith, Science, and Logical Framework Matrix in Senior High School Research Preparation, which documented an educational activity designed to help students understand research through the complementary perspectives of faith, science, ethical reflection, and logical framework development.

His scientific engagement extends beyond journal publications. At the 39th Philippine Chemistry Congress in Iloilo in 2025, Fr. Jayvee presented research on the integration of chemistry education and Scripture reflection. The official congress program listed his work, Faith-Infused Chem Crafters: A Formulary for Enriching High School Chemistry Education, among the poster presentations. He was also recognized for presenting Charting a Chemical Formulary for High School Education with Scripture Reflections, an innovative effort to demonstrate how chemistry education can be enriched by ethical and spiritual reflection.

In 2026, his scientific participation reached another milestone with his presentation of research on integrating ethical reflection and the Logical Framework Approach in senior high school research education during the EURASIA Conference in Chemical Sciences and the 40th Chemistry Congress at the SMX Convention Center, Mall of Asia.

Fr. Jayvee’s scientific journey has also included collaborative research on Philippine wines and liquors, environmental sustainability, Laudato Si’ implementation, electron-beam technology awareness, and science education. His collaboration with researchers from the Philippine Nuclear Research Institute, Aklan State University, Nabaoy Elementary School, Catanduanes State University, Bicol University, and other institutions demonstrates his ability to bring people from different disciplines together in pursuit of knowledge and service. His scientific collaborations have even resulted in a growing body of peer-reviewed publications and a copyrighted educational work.

But perhaps what makes Fr. Jayvee truly special is that his laboratory is not limited to a university or research institution.

As a formator at Sto. Niรฑo Seminary, he brings science and creativity into the formation of young seminarians. He does not simply teach from books. He teaches through experience –transforming ordinary materials into opportunities for learning, creativity, discipline, livelihood, and appreciation of God’s creation.

Among the fascinating skills he shares with the seminarians is the making of rosaries from seeds and natural materials. In his hands, see
