KALIBO, Aklan – The Department of Social Welfare and Development Field Office VI (DSWD FO VI) continues to provide assistance to individuals affected by recent weather disturbances through the Emergency Cash Transfer (ECT) program.

Today, DSWD, through its Disaster Response Management Division (DRMD), facilitated the distribution of cash assistance to 89 target beneficiaries who are tourism workers affected by Tropical Cyclone Tino in Malay and Kalibo, Aklan.

Under the ECT program, beneficiaries who were assessed as affected received PHP 10,325 to help them recover and meet their basic needs.

The distribution was facilitated by DSWDโ€™s Angels in Red Vests to ensure that assistance reached the rightful beneficiaries in a timely and orderly manner.

The BBM Serbisyo, or Basta Beripikado Mabilis ang Serbisyo, online registration was also conducted. The digital platform uses the PhilSys ID to verify the agencyโ€™s client beneficiaries to prevent fraud and duplication and to efficiently deliver social services to those who need them most.

The provision of aid is in line with the directive of DSWD Secretary Rex Gatchalian and the mandate of President Ferdinand โ€œBongbongโ€ Marcos Jr. to continuously support families affected by disasters until they fully recover.

DSWD FO VI emphasized that all cash distributions strictly adhere to a thorough and transparent process, guided by MC 24, s. 2025, which contains the Amended Guidelines on the Conduct of Emergency Cash Transfer.

These ongoing interventions underscore the governmentโ€™s commitment to delivering timely and responsive assistance to communities impacted by disasters./jam
