Ozamis City- For the first time in history, Misamis Occidental has soared to victory, claiming the overall championship at the 2025 Northern Mindanao Regional Athletic Association (NMRAA) Meet with an astounding 230 medals—94 gold, 77 silver, and 59 bronze.
But beyond this unprecedented achievement, Governor Henry Sevilla Oaminal and the Provincial Government of Misamis Occidental have set a new benchmark for sports development—awarding cash incentives not just to their own athletes, but to all NMRAA winners from across Northern Mindanao.
This landmark initiative, the first in NMRAA history, recognizes and rewards the dedication, discipline, and perseverance of every medalist—whether from Misamis Occidental, Bukidnon, Cagayan de Oro, Iligan, Lanao del Norte, Camiguin, or Misamis Oriental.
For the young athletes who have trained tirelessly, this is more than just financial support—it is a powerful statement that their hard work matters, that they are valued, and that their dreams deserve to be realized. With Misamis Occidental leading the charge, the future of sports in Northern Mindanao has never looked brighter.
This investment in young talents does not stop at NMRAA—Governor Oaminal has already announced additional cash incentives for those who will bring home medals from Palarong Pambansa 2025, further inspiring athletes to aim higher and represent the region with pride.
This is more than a championship—it is a revolution in sports development. Misamis Occidental is not just winning on the field; it is changing the game, setting new standards, and proving that when leaders invest in young athletes, the entire region rises together.
