Government-funded infrastructures stir second district Aklan economy- Haresco

Tangalan, Aklanโ€”The economy of the second district of Aklan was reportedly boosted by President Ferdinand ‘Bongbong’ Marcos Jr.’s focus on infrastructure and assistance projects to alleviate poverty in the countryside.
In a press conference Friday afternoon, Second District Congressman Teodorico Haresco Jr said he is thankful to House Speaker Martin Romualdez for the programs poured into the West Aklan in the last two years.
“The government infrastructures have provided livelihood to the residents as well as several poverty reduction programs of the Department of Social Welfare and Development and the Department of Labor and Employment among others,” he added.
Haresco called the press conference to warmly welcome the visit of ACT -CIS party list representativesย  Erwin Tulfo and Edvic Yap. They came to Aklan to personally witness the distribution of financial assistance reportedly supported through the help of House Speaker Romualdez.
Among the infrastructure projects were road constructions to include farm-to-market roads in the Western Aklan lobbied by Haresco as the congressman,
According to the recent report of the Philippine Statistics Authority-Aklan during the presentation of their Provincial Product Accounts, the economy of Aklan continues to accelerate, growing by 9.5 percent in 2023 from a 22.5 percent increase in 2022. In 2023.
“The Gross Domestic Product of Aklan was estimated at PhP 69.61 billion.ย Among the 16 industries, Wholesale and retail trade; repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles had the largest share to the total economy of the province with 22.3 percent share. This was followed by Transportation and storage with 18.0 percent, and Agriculture, forestry, and fishing with 11.1 percent share,” the PSA added.
The PSA however admitted that the provincial report is yet to be divided between the first and second districts of Aklan.
