Haresco Starts Uplifting People’s Lives in Eastern Aklan

KALIBO, Aklan- Former Aklan’s Second District Congressman Teodorico Haresco has started his advocacy of helping Aklanons, this time those from the Eastern towns of this province.

Already, Haresco brought in his long time friend world renowned bridge designer Engr.  Phillip Gouvary from France. Engr. Gouvary came here with representatives from the China Construction Communication Company, managed by China Harbour and China Road and Bridges.

“Engr. Gouvary came here to make a design for the Batan-New Washington Bridge. His services are for free for the love of the people of Aklan,” Haresco told the Boracay Island News Network.

Aside from Haresco, other personalities who welcomed the foreign delegation included New Washington Mayor Atty. Shimonette Peralta-Francisco, Batan Mayor Rodel Ramos among others.

Uswag Partylist Congressman Jojo Ang also expressed support for the said project.

Haresco said that the environment-friendly bridge is essential to link the fishing communities of Batan and New Washington towns to provide smooth transport of seafoods and other industries in the said towns. Both towns are known in Metro Manila for offering the best quality oysters.

“Hindi ito ordinaryong tulay. Above 500 meters, iba na ang engineering. Hindi puwedeng lumang formworks at beam-by-beam mindset lang—kailangan cost effective world-class design, proper studies, and foreign technical partner… and Donor Country,” Haresco said.

“May magagaling tayong local engineers, pero for bridges of this length and complexity, kailangan talaga ng international expertise, technology transfer, and financing support para safe, durable, at bankable ang proyekto,” he added.

Aside from the bridge, Haresco also led the medical mission in Altavas town helping some 300 poor residents.

“People in Eastern towns need more assistance brought about by the high inflation and economic crises,” Haresco who now prefered to be called as ‘Tito’ said.
