Malinao, Aklanย  โ€” A meaningful step toward stronger community health services was marked with the signing of the Deed of Donation for a 500-square-meter parcel of land by the Heirs of Ciriaco Icamina in favor of the Barangay Council of Bulabud, held at the Barangay Hall of Bulabud.

The donated property will serve as the future site of a Barangay Birthing and Health Facility, envisioned to provide safe maternal delivery and essential health services for mothers and families in Barangay Bulabud and nearby communities. The facility will be developed through the collaborative efforts of the Department of Health (DOH), the Local Government Unit of Malinao, and the Provincial Government of Aklan, reinforcing a united approach to grassroots healthcare delivery.

Representing the Icamina family during the signing were Ms. Cherry Icamina, daughter of the late Dr. Ciriaco Icamina Jr., and Mr. J. Guidon Icaminaโ€“Dela Cruz, son of Josefina Icaminaโ€“Dela Cruz, together with his wife Dr. Cynthia Dela Cruz. The donation was formally received by Barangay Captain Rosario Dela Cruz, joined by members of the Barangay Council.

The Icamina familyโ€™s roots in Barangay Bulabud trace back to the 1930s, with generations committed to uplifting the community through education and public service. Over the decades, the family has donated land for key educational institutions, including the Ciriaco Icamina National High School in Barangay Bulabud, Sugnod Elementary School in Barangay Sugnod, and Rosario National High School in Barangay Rosarioโ€”lasting legacies that continue to shape young lives across Aklan.

โ€œThis donation is our familyโ€™s humble contribution to the welfare of mothers and children in our community,โ€ the Icamina heirs shared. โ€œWe believe that accessible healthcare is a shared responsibility, and this facility represents hope, care, and compassion for future generations.โ€

As the project moves forward, the partners call on the community to take part in supporting government efforts to improve health servicesโ€”through cooperation, volunteerism, and shared responsibilityโ€”ensuring that quality and compassionate healthcare reaches every family in Barangay Bulabud and beyond.
