
KALIBO, Aklan- Some members of the winning Ati-atihan tribe are set to sail to Nagoya, Japan for a festival showdown.
Carla Doromal of the Kalibo LGU said that Mayor Juris Bautista-Sucro has received an invitation from the One Network representing the Philippine Embassy.
The event dubbed ‘Pistang Pilipino 2024, a celebration of Filipino culture, heritage, and innovation, is on June 15โ16 at the Hisaya Edion Park.
“This coincides with the 126th Philippine Independence Day and is also a joyous commemoration of Filipino Migrants Day. The event is supported by the Migrants Workers Office, the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration, the Department of Tourism, and the Department of Agriculture,” said Serma Koike, president of One Network.
It was gathered that the Kalibo delegation is composed of ten tribe members, including Mayor Sucro, Ms Doromal, Rhea Rose Meren of the tourism and culture office, and Councilor Phillip Kimpo, among others.
