MAKATI City- Twenty-two foreign retirees who have chosen to make the Philippines their home officially took their oath as Special Resident Retireeโ€™s Visa (SRRV) members during a ceremony held on Wednesday (May 13) in Makati City.

The oathtaking was led by Department of Tourism (DOT) Secretary Dita Angara-Mathay together with Philippine Retirement Authority (PRA) CEO and General Manager Roberto Z. Zozobrado.

The SRRV is a premier non-immigrant visa that grants holders permanent residency and multiple-entry privileges in the Philippines. It also provides access to a growing network of PRA-accredited partners offering discounts and exclusive privileges across various goods and services for members.

As of April 30, 2026, the Philippines continues to host a strong retirement community with 61,695 active SRRV members, composed of principal retirees and their registered dependents.

The countryโ€™s appeal as a retirement destination continues to gain global recognition. In 2025, the Philippines was named the Best Retirement Destination in Asia by digital travel platform TripZilla, further reinforcing its position as a leading retirement hub in the region. Meanwhile, Dumaguete City was also cited by Investopedia in its February 2026 report as one of the most budget-friendly retirement destinations in Asia.

The DOT remains committed to strengthening the Philippines as a safe, welcoming, and high-quality retirement destination.
