KALIBO, Aklan- The Land Transportation Office (LTO) continues its proactive campaign to distribute official license plates to Tricycle Operators and Drivers Associations (TODA) nationwide especially in the province of Aklan.
This initiative is part of the agency’s intensified efforts to resolve the backlog in tricycle plate distribution and enforce the “No Plate, No Travel” policy, ensuring safer and more organized road use.
In support of President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.’s directive to bring government services closer to the grassroots, the LTO has instructed all Regional Directors to complete the plate distribution by April 30, 2025. In Kalibo, Aklan, the LTO brought this initiative directly to the community with the support of TODA Presidents.
LTO Kalibo District Chief Engr. Marlon L. Velez, in partnership with the Local Government Unit of Kalibo through the Office of the Sangguniang Bayan, recently spearheaded a focused distribution effort targeting 1,000 registered TODA franchises in the municipality.
The distribution event was held on April 15 at the Bliss Covered Court in Barangay Poblacion and was attended by Engr. Velez, Mayor Juris Bautista Sucro, Vice Mayor Dr. Cynthia C. Dela Cruz, Councilor Ketchie F. Luces, and Councilor Matt Aaron P. Guzman, who chairs the Committee on Transportation.
Many TODA members received their license plates during the event, while the remaining plates can be claimed starting April 21 at the LTO Kalibo District Office. To claim the plates, drivers must submit two photocopies of the Official Receipt/Certificate of Registration (OR/CR) and present the original OR.
Representatives claiming on behalf of a driver must also provide an Affidavit of Representation. Official license plates are important for drivers and passengers because they make it easier to identify vehicles and help prevent illegal activities.
This LTO program improves regulatory compliance and makes essential services more accessible, leading to a safer and more organized transportation system. By reaching beyond government offices and into barangays, the LTO is not just distributing plates—it is delivering on a promise of efficient, fair, and accessible public service for every Filipino driver.
