Boracay Island, Malay, Aklan โ€“ The Local Government Unit of Malay, under the leadership of Hon. Frolibar S. Bautista, Municipal Mayor, spearheaded a one-day orientation on Municipal Ordinances regulating illegal water activities, held at Hue Hotels and Resorts, Boracay Island.
The initiative was organized in response to the persistent challenges posed by illegal water-related activities such as unpermitted businesses, unlawful maritime practices, and repeated violations of both national laws and local ordinances. To address these, the LGU Malay has implemented stronger regulatory measures to safeguard security, safety, and public order.
One of the key initiatives highlighted was Executive Order No. 31, s. 2025, which formally established the Boracay Enforcement Team. This special body is tasked to strictly enforce municipal ordinances, regulate water-based activities, and intensify the crackdown against illegal operations on the island.
A total of 27 personnel from Malay Municipal Police Station attended the orientation alongside representatives from other law enforcement agencies and partner offices.
The activity was graced by Mayor Frolibar S. Bautista, PMAJ MARISSA S ARELLANO, Officer-In-Charge of Malay MPS, Ms. Catherine Fulgencio, OIC-MDRRMO, Mr. Dennis Briones, LGU Licensing Officer, Mr. Marlo Lozada, SB Office-Malay, and Ms. Maureen Sarabia, Office of the Municipal Mayor.
Through this collaborative effort, the LGU Malay seeks to strengthen inter-agency coordination and enforcement capacity to ensure that Boracay remains a safe, orderly, and sustainable destination for both residents and visitors.
