
KALIBO, Aklan- Aklan’s First district Congressman Carlito Marquez made history in the province as the first Akeanon Congressman to chair the committee of science and technology in the lower house.
This was announced in the official facebook page of Marquez.
Marquez has been a member of the said committee since 2017. He was a chemical engineer by profession. Science and technology is considered an important committee as it focuses on research and development. Marquez is also one of the oldest working congressmen actively working at the age of 80.
During his previous stint as a member of the committee on science and technology, Marquez supported several significant science related measures such as the Balik Scientist Act, the Amended Magna Carta for Science Workers, the Philippine Space Act, the Innovative Start-Up Act and the Provincial Science and Technology Office Act.

“I am confident that under the new or current National Leadership, the support for this important factor to socioeconomic development will be sustained and expanded.,” he added.
