BORACAY Island — The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) has allocated around P1.8 billion to improve its services across the country.
NBI Director Melvin Matibag told the Manila Standard in a brief interview that the modernization program includes the fast-tracking of its services.
Matibag was in Boracay on Friday afternoon to personally lead the opening of the NBI Satelie office at CityMall.
“For years, some Filipinos have had to wait for days to secure their clearance whenever they had a namesake. We are trying to fast-track the process through our modernization programs,” Matibag said.
The NBI is also set to launch ATM-type kiosks in malls soon, where Filipinos can apply for NBI clearance anytime.
An NBI clearance is an important requirement in the Philippines for people applying for jobs.
DoubleDragon Properties, which owns CityMall, said this is its fifth mall in the country with an NBI office.
