Friends can influence the path we choose to walk on this journey. They are our shoulder to lean on, our listening buddy, and loud support system.
Especially, OFWs like us look for people who can shelter us from sadness and the feeling of being out of place because we are physically distant from our loved ones. It seems that despite the rapid innovation of technology we’re still longing for the physical and emotional presence of our families.
Here are some of my thoughts on why many of us cannot resist the temptation due to living alone in a distant land :
1) Feeling unloved
2) Feeling unheard
3) Sacrifices are more of responsibility and choices rather than an act of loving unconditionally.
4) Too many people are taking advantage of how generous we are.
5 ) Spoiling or depriving our emptiness by unnecessary behaviour or conduct.
We are tired, weak, and confused, which leads us to resort to practices that we ourselves know have grim consequences.
Be mentally strong to talk, eat, and connect to our societal circles.
