PCL-Aklan President Equiña elected as PCL Regional Chair

Philippine Councilor’s League (PCL) – Aklan Chapter President and ex-officio Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP) Member Roly O. Equiña, Jr. was elected unopposed by his fellow councilors across the region as Regional Chairman of the PCL Region 6 during the Synchronized Regional Elections for Visayas conducted by the PCL in partnership with the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) held at Bai Hotel, Mandaue City, Cebu on November 23, 2022.

The PCL is an organization composed of municipal and city councilors in the Philippines. Founded in 1989 as the Metro Manila Councilor’s League and officially accredited by the DILG and the Securities and Exchange Commission in 1990 as the Philippine Councilor’s League, the league has always been at the forefront of contemporary and emerging trends in the local administration and development to help improve the quality of life of the Filipino people through effective local legislation.

In 1992, the DILG issued Memorandum Circular No. 92 -03 which mandated the existing PCL which was constituted in 1990 to be reorganized and its existing Constitution and By-Laws was modified in accordance to Republic Act 7160, otherwise known as the Local Government Code of 1991, which recognized the existence of the federations of other elective local officials.

As a local government association with a large constituency, PCL-Region 6 continues to progress as a dynamic and efficient organization of local legislators in Western Visayas.

Equiña, currently a Sangguniang Bayan Member of the Municipality of New Washington Aklan, earlier assumed his post as an ex-officio SP Member representing the PCL-Aklan Chapter during the 11th Regular Session on September 19, 2022 of the 19th Aklan SP.

With his exceptional leadership and sincere heart for public service, Equiña is expected to lead PCL-Region 6 in spearheading the crafting of effective legislations for the benefit of their constituents.

Joining Equiña in the PCL Regional Council were fellow Aklanons, Hon. Lei Milan G. Tupas, SB Member of the Municipality of Banga and PCL Aklan – PRO who was proclaimed as Regional Auditor and Hon. Prescilla Gale S. Calizo, SB Member of the Municipality of Balete and PCL Aklan Member of the Board of Directors who was proclaimed also as one of the members of the Regional Board of Directors.

The elected officers of the PCL Regional Council for Region 6 were proclaimed by Ms. Maricel M. Bechayda, Local Government Operations Officer VII of the Local Government Monitoring and Evaluation Division of DILG-Region 6.
