Safe Waters, Safe Tourism: Building A Community Ready To Respond

Published

on

Pandan, Antique- The Department of Tourism Region VI, in partnership with the Local Government Unit of Pandan and the Bugang Community-Based Eco-Tourism Organization (BCBETO), successfully conducted the Basic First Aid Training on October 2, 2026 at Malumpati Cold Spring Resort, Pandan, Antique.

Facilitated by the Philippine Red Cross โ€“ Antique Chapter, the training went beyond learning the basicsโ€”it equipped BCBETO members with practical skills they can immediately apply when emergencies happen, particularly in water-based tourism activities.

Participants learned how to respond to common emergencies, provide immediate first aid, assess situations, and take appropriate action while waiting for professional medical assistance. Special emphasis was also given to water safety and emergency response, an essential skill for those assisting visitors in destinations such as Malumpati Cold Spring.

In tourism, a safe experience is just as important as a memorable one. A few minutes of proper action can make a life-saving difference. By strengthening the skills of local tourism workers and community members, we are building a tourism community that is not only welcoming and service-oriented, but also prepared, responsible, and ready to respond.

Because when adventure meets the water, preparedness should always come along.
