Kalibo, Aklan – Dr. Cynthia dela Cruz, leading re-electionist for Vice Mayor of Kalibo, recently led the commendations during the 8th General Assembly of the Aklan Food Chain Credit Cooperative (AFCCC), celebrating its continued success and vital role in empowering local communities.
Held in Kalibo, the assembly recognized AFCCC’s strong performance in delivering credit facilities to over 300 personnel and workers of the Macciri Group, including suppliers and customers. Since its humble beginning in 2016, the cooperative has grown into a reliable provider of Negosyo Loans, Housing Loans, Salary Loans, and Emergency Loans—supporting the educational, medical, and housing needs of its members.
Dr. dela Cruz praised the leadership of the cooperative and underscored its importance in promoting inclusive financial services. She noted its partnerships with the Land Bank of the Philippines and the Small Business Corporation, and expressed full support for its 2025 goal of releasing P15 million in small loans to members.

Also extending his congratulations was Jess Marquez, candidate for Congressman, who commended Chairman Ms. Janesville Agreda and Manager Ms. Charisse Reynaldo for their dedication and vision. Marquez emphasized his legislative advocacy to mandate the appointment of a Cooperative Officer in every municipality to strengthen grassroots cooperative development.
Mayor Dexter Calizo of Balete, Aklan, and candidate for Vice Governor, also shared his full support for cooperatives and highlighted their crucial role in promoting local economic growth.
A highlight of the event was the successful election of the new Board of Directors and committee members, reinforcing AFCCC’s commitment to participatory governance and organizational transparency.
Special guests who graced the event included Sangguniang Bayan Members Christine dela Cruz and Ronald Marte, and former SB Member Lilian Tirol, who all expressed their support for the cooperative’s mission and accomplishments.
The 8th General Assembly marked another milestone in AFCCC’s journey, uniting members, leaders, and advocates in their shared commitment to sustainable community development.
