Re: Marketing of Boracay
With the current economic situation in Boracay, stakeholders are struggling and still unhappy. It is a fact that some government policies need to be corrected and some infrastructure needs improvement. However that’s beyond a normal tourism industry player’s capacity to fix. Our capacity is on the manner how we market or promote Boracay — how we create social media contents to target the desired market that we want for Boracay.
Majority of the current visitors of Boracay are class D, E or the low spending tourists. That’s why even how good the tourist arrival numbers are, businesses are still struggling…with some establishments shutting operations, with the community in difficult times to make ends meet. We need quality tourists over quantity.
We should rather be embarrassed than be cocky and proud projecting to be a Boracay advocate having big follows on social media if the benefit of the contents are not for the good of the majority or the whole business sector and the community. CHEAP CONTENTS ATTRACT CHEAP TOURISTS. Only the content creators gain personal benefits.
It’s time to show the boutique or the chic side of the island. Boracay has heaps to offer to middle class to top markets A and B. These markets can absolutely make a difference economically in the overall picture over the current market of Boracay. The island is equipped with decent offerings and decent establishments. Let’s attract this markets, NOT just to create content for the sake of creating contents to gain follows and popularity.
___________
To Boracay content creators who feature value adding materials to Boracay, sana dumami pa kayo. Congratulations and Thank you!
