New Washington, Aklan โ€“ The Department of Tourism Region VI, in partnership with the Municipal Government of New Washington, conducted the Orientation on Tourism Business Indicators in the Tourism Industry at the Manuel C. Peralta Community Center on August 11, 2026.

The orientation was officially opened with an encouraging and warm message from Municipal Mayor Shimonette P. Francisco, who underscored the importance of tourism and the active participation of stakeholders in the development of New Washington, recognized as the Seafood Capital of Aklan.

A total of 33 participants were given the opportunity to hear updates on the tourism situation at the municipal, provincial, and regional levels, learn about basic tourism indicators, and gain insights into how these indicators can be properly recorded using the DOT-recommended monitoring tools.

The participants also expressed their commitment and continued support in improving the municipalityโ€™s recorded tourist arrivals through accurate and timely reporting, and in sharing these data with the Department of Tourism Region VI through the Local Tourism Office.
