20 foreign tourists visit Boracay

FOREIGNERS are back in Boracay Island, which has received 20 foreign tourists since February 10, the day the Philippines opened its doors to international travelers.

The Malay Tourism Office reported that eleven of the 20 foreigners came from the United States, four from Germany, three from the United Kingdom, and one each from Belgium and South Korea.

Some 26,621 domestic travelers have also visited Boracay from February 1 to 13 this year.

Earlier, Department of Tourism Secretary Bernadette Romulo-Puyat said they expect that by June, there will be a surge of foreign tourists in Boracay.

“They are waiting for their vacation so that they will be able to come freely,” she said.

 

Dionisio Salme, former president of the Boracay Foundation Incorporated, said businessmen in the island are prepared for the influx of tourists.
