The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) today announced the voluntary surrender of an individual to the NBI Special Action Unit (NBI-SAU) due to the relentless and persistent hot-pursuit operations of its Agents.
NBI Officer-In-Charge (OIC) Director Eric B. Distor identified the subject as JOHN ALLEN DANCEL y OBRIGO a.k.a. ELONG.
Director Distor said that the operation stemmed from the complaint filed by actor GERALD ANDERSON against three (3) unidentified individuals who were involved in the robbery of his personal belongings worth P830,000.00.According to the complaint, on January 30, 2022, while Anderson was playing basketball with his friends inside his gym located in Quezon City, an individual forced open and broke the window of the complainantโ€™s vehicle parked outside the said gym, and took two (2) bags containing the stolen items. A day later, a certain individual hacked the coins.ph account of Anderson using a certain mobile number. Verification made revealed that the mobile number used in the hacking of the Andersonโ€™s coins.ph account belongs to BENJAMIN CARREON JR, a resident of Tindalo St. Brgy. 254, Tondo, Manila.
Investigation conducted by the NBI-SAU revealed that the perpetrators behind the robbery is a Tondo-Manila group, notorious for โ€œbasag kotseโ€. The perpetrators used a black Honda Click motorcycle and a mint green MIO I 125 motorcycle in the robbery of the complainantโ€™s belongings. Thus, NBI-SAU dispatched a tracking team to hunt down the perpetrators behind the crime.
On February 3, 2022, NBI-SAU operatives proceeded to the address of Carreon but he, together with alias Elong, were able to evade the operatives. CCTV footages recovered by the operatives showed that the two (2) subjects were able to escape through a window on the 2nd Floor of the house. During the course of the hot-pursuit, NBI-SAU operatives were able to recover from the adjacent house the personal belongings of the complainant. Further investigation revealed that the 2nd Floor of the target house is occupied by one of the perpetrators identified Subject Dancel.
On February 7, 2022, due to the relentless and persistent hot-pursuit operations by the NBI-SAU, one of the subjects identified as Subject Dancel voluntarily surrendered before the office of NBI-SAU and gave his statement admitting the crime. Subject Dancel surrendered one (1) luxury bag belonging to the complainant and stated that he handed over to a certain LIANNY โ€œYHANGโ€ CARLOS two (2) valuable watches belonging to the complainant, which were eventually sold for Php 150,000.00.
