Chinese embassy eyes late of 2023 for return of Chinese tourists to Boracay

BORACAY Island, Malay Aklan- The Chinese embassy in Manila is eyeing later part of 2023 for the possible return of Chinese tourists to Boracay.

In an exclusive  interview, Peter Tay, Chinese liaison officer for Boracay said that they have already started talking in Manila about the possible return of Chinese tourists to Boracay.

The Chinese tourists were an important tourism market for Boracay before the global COVID-19 pandemic. Many of the Chinese provinces and cities then have direct flights to the Kalibo International Airport (KIA), a gateway to Boracay.

“Yes. We are in the midst of discussion, but it will not be 2022. Maybe late 2023. Hopefully.,” he told the Boracay Island News Network. Earlier, South Korean tourists have already started direct flights to the KIA.

Tay was a Singaporean businessman in Boracay before he was appointed as liaison officer of the Chinese embassy for Boracay.
