Caticlan- Security Screening Officers (SSOs) of the Office for Transportation Security (OTS) once again demonstrated vigilance and integrity after successfully recovering and returning a left-behind bag belonging to a passenger bound for Manila via AirAsia Flight Z2 228, which was inadvertently left behind at the security screening checkpoint of Caticlan Airport on May 13, 2026.

Based on the report, while performing routine screening duties, SSO Jean Belarmino discovered a sling bag left unattended at the output roller of an X-ray machine. She immediately reported the matter to Checkpoint Supervisor SSO Relna Dela Cruz, who promptly coordinated with airport authorities to initiate a public announcement through the airport paging system in an effort to locate the owner.

Shortly after, a passenger inquired about her missing bag with OTS personnel. Through standard ownership verification procedures, the passenger was confirmed as the rightful owner, and the bag was promptly returned intact.

The passenger expressed her gratitude to SSO Belarmino and the entire OTS team for their honesty and professionalism in helping recover her left-behind belongings.

The incident highlights the agency’s continued commitment to uphold integrity and excellence in public service, in line with President Ferdinand Bongbong Marcos Jr.’s directive to promote transparency, accountability, and public trust while ensuring that Philippine airports remain safe, secure, and reliable gateways for travelers.
