
Boracay Island, Malay, Aklan โ Thirty (30) local tourism stakeholders successfully completed the Community Guiding Seminar conducted on May 12โ18, 2026 in Boracay Island. The week-long training aimed to strengthen the knowledge, skills, and capabilities of community members in delivering quality guiding services and promoting responsible and sustainable tourism.
The seminar brought together distinguished speakers and resource persons who shared valuable insights on tourism, outdoor guiding, customer service, disaster preparedness, and local enterprise development.
Mr. Aris Neil Cristales discussed Basic Outdoor Principles, emphasizing safety, environmental stewardship, proper conduct, and responsible tourism practices in outdoor activities.
Ms. Monika Navata Labaupa shared essential Tour Guiding Techniques focused on effective communication, guest engagement, interpretation skills, and professionalism in creating meaningful visitor experiences.
Dr. Felix Delos Santos discussed the Filipino Brand of Service Excellence (FBSE), highlighting the value of genuine Filipino hospitality and service excellence in enhancing the overall tourist experience.
Representatives from the Malay Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office also provided important discussions on disaster preparedness, emergency response, and safety protocols vital in tourism destinations such as Boracay.
Meanwhile, Mr. Rechan Casidsid encouraged participants to support and promote local products, community enterprises, and authentic cultural experiences through his discussion on Local Products and Services.
The seminar concluded with a graduation ceremony recognizing the dedication and active participation of all thirty graduates. The Department of Tourism expressed its gratitude to the speakers, the Local Government Unit of Malay, and all participants for contributing to the success of the activity.
The Community Guiding Seminar forms part of the continuing efforts of the Department of Tourism to empower local communities, enhance tourism professionalism, and further promote sustainable, inclusive, and community-based tourism development in Boracay Island.
