Sandiganbayan Suspends Uswag Ilongo Rep. Jojo Ang for 90 Days

The Sandiganbayan Sixth Division has ordered the 90-day preventive suspension of Uswag Ilonggo Party-list Representative James “Jojo” Ang Jr. in connection with graft cases involving his alleged financial interest in a construction firm that secured government contracts.
The resolution, dated September 21, 2026, directs Ang’s suspension from his position as a member of the House of Representatives and from any other public office he may currently or subsequently hold for the duration of the suspension. �

The court cited Section 13 of Republic Act No. 3019, or the Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices Act, which provides for the preventive suspension of an incumbent public officer facing a valid criminal prosecution under the law. The Sandiganbayan said the suspension is a mandatory measure once the legal requirements are met. �

Ang is facing graft charges over allegations that he had a financial or pecuniary interest in Allencon Development Corporation, a construction company that obtained about P214 million worth of Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) contracts and was paid nearly P199 million, according to the Ombudsman’s allegations. �

The Ombudsman filed 14 counts of graft against Ang in July. The Sandiganbayan subsequently issued an arrest warrant, while Ang later entered a not-guilty plea to two of the graft charges that proceeded to arraignment. �

In opposing the preventive suspension, Ang maintained that he had already completely divested himself from Allencon, according to his manifestation before the court. �
