3,593 Senior Citizens in New Washington Receive Social Pension

NEW WASHINGTON, Aklan – The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office VI, through its Social Pension (SocPen) Program, successfully conducted a two-day payout activity in the Municipality of New Washington, Aklan.

A total of Php 10,799,000 in social pension was released to 3,593 indigent senior citizens, providing financial assistance to help ease their daily expenses, particularly for medicines and other basic needs.
Beneficiaries from the 16 barangays of Washington each received PHP3,000 in cash assistance, representing their 3rd quarter Social Pension for 2026.

The payout activity was led by the Municipal Local Government Unit (MLGU) of New Washington, through the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office (MSWDO) headed by Marichu R. Dantes RN, RSW, in coordination with the Municipal Treasurer’s Office led by Jerick O. Yacub and Municipal Treasurer’s Office staff.

The activity was conducted with the support of Mayor. Atty. Shimonnette P. Francisco demonstrating the strong commitment of the local government in ensuring that social protection services reach the municipality’s indigent senior citizens.

The payout was monitored by Project Development Officer I Edmund Montuya Social Welfare Assistant (SWA) Rubylyn C. Islao and the dedicated Social Pension staff to ensure the orderly and efficient distribution of financial assistance to the beneficiaries./jes
