Gov. Reynaldo Tamayo Jr. Recognized for Exemplary Leadership and Public Service in South Cotabato

Koronadal City- South Cotabato Governor Reynaldo S. Tamayo Jr. has earned nationwide recognition for his community-centered governance, receiving top honors for expanding public access to free healthcare, education, and social welfare programs across the province. Media organizations, including Media People’s Choice Management, Sigaw ng Bayan, and EuroTV News, jointly commended Governor Tamayo for his impactful local development initiatives under the recognition theme “Top Performing, Most Trusted Provincial Governor in the Philippines.” Since taking office in 2019 following his tenure as Municipal Mayor of Tupi, Tamayo has built his public service around the core principle of “Tama at Maayos na Serbisyo” (Right and Proper Service), ensuring that essential government services reach all residents regardless of their economic background.
Among his administration’s flagship achievements is the “Hospital Without Cashier” zero-billing program introduced in provincial hospitals to eliminate medical debt for families seeking treatment. In education, the province has continuously invested in early childhood learning, classroom infrastructure, and scholarship partnerships that have enabled approximately 30,000 students from disadvantaged families to graduate from college. His leadership also extends to agricultural development, livelihood support, infrastructure, and social welfare, earning him the prestigious Outstanding Governor award from the Association of Local Social Welfare and Development Officers of the Philippines in April 2026. As President of the League of Provinces of the Philippines, Governor Tamayo continues to lead inter-provincial coordination, maintaining that governance gains true meaning through accountability, transparency, and sustained service to ordinary families.
