Aklan Launches Security Prep for ASEAN 2026 in Boracay

Malay, Aklan — The Aklan Provincial Police Office (AkPPO) and the Security Task Group (STG) for ASEAN 2026 conducted an accounting and Pre-Deployment Briefing at the Caticlan Covered Court in Malay, Aklan at 1:00 PM today. The activity follows last week’s ASEAN-related events in Boracay and Iloilo City and continues security preparations initiated during last year’s regional gathering.

The briefing gathered key stakeholders including PCOL Arnel Ramos, Provincial Director of AkPPO and STG Commander; Deputy SSTG Commanders for Peace and Order and Security; STU Secretariat; Hon. Ralph Tolosa, Ex-Officio Sangguniang Bayan Member and Liga ng mga Barangay President of Malay; Pastor Peter Arbolario of the Malay Pastor Council; TU Commanders; and augmentation personnel assigned to security operations.

Hon. Tolosa delivered a message on behalf of the municipal mayor, emphasizing the community’s role in sustaining the gains of last year’s ASEAN events. PLTCOL Idel Hermoso, DPDO and Deputy Commander of SSTG Peace and Order, discussed duty protocols and guidelines, while SSTG Commanders led briefings on operational procedures, security measures, emergency response, uniform standards (“Tamang Bihis”), and vigilance.

The activity builds on groundwork from last year’s summit and recent coordination in Iloilo City, highlighting Western Visayas’ phased approach to hosting ASEAN 2026.

Preparations across Aklan and Iloilo show the country’s commitment to maintaining safety standards and supporting ASEAN’s role in advancing regional cooperation and integration.
