PANGLAO, Bohol—The Bureau of Immigration (BI) apprehended two foreign nationals in separate operations in Bohol and Cebu for violating immigration laws due to overstaying in the country.
On 20 February 2025, operatives from the BI’s Intelligence Division, in coordination with the Panglao Municipal Police, arrested Chinese man Dong Chengzhi, 27, in Doljo, Panglao, Bohol.
On same date, in coordination with the Mabolo Police Station, BI operatives arrested Japanese national Takeshi Nishiyama, 48, in Kasambagan, Cebu City. Both were found to have exceeded their authorized period of stay in the country.
Both were arrested after the BI received intelligence reports the presence of overstaying aliens in the area.
BI Commissioner Joel Anthony Viado reaffirmed the Bureau’s commitment to enforcing immigration laws.
“The Bureau remains vigilant in tracking down overstaying foreign nationals and ensuring compliance with visa regulations,” said Viado. “Violators will face legal consequences, and we will not tolerate any disregard for immigration laws.”
The two will remain under the BI’s custody pending the resolution of their deportation case. #
