BINN, supports collaboration of APC, PPI

KALIBO, Aklan—The Boracay Island News Network (BINN) is supporting the different activities of the first collaboration between the Aklan Press Club (APC) and the Philippine Press Institute (PPI) this week.

Ariel Sebellino, PPI executive director and trustee said they will be arriving here in Kalibo June 27–30, together with several experts coming from the media and legal. The Hanns Seidel Foundation is supporting the said program.

Jun Aguirre, the executive producer of the BINN, is serving as the focal person for the forthcoming activities. He is also the vice president for social media of the APC.

Sebellino said that on June 28, they will be at the RSQ Building of the Northwestern Visayan College (NVC) in Kalibo, Aklan, for the scholastic outreach program on Artificial Intelligence (AI). The seminar will be attended by college students from several schools in Aklan.

On June 29–30, the PPI team will be at the GQ Hotel, also in Kalibo, to organize a Media Accountability and Press Council.

Sebellino said the topics in the said seminar were: were What is a Press/Media Council, Why Is It Necessary, What Are the Imperatives in Creating A Council, What Are the Mechanics, Why Decriminalize Libel, and What Is the Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) as A Key Ingredient for an Effective Council.
